Most modern ERP/MRP packages are equipped to deal with EDI or some Message Oriented Middleware (MoM) to allow orders for materials to be placed automatically. The more sophisticated systems can 'negotiate' with approved suppliers own systems and choose where to place orders based upon price and delivery constraints.
